Hi, I’m Kong!
Hello! I’m Kong Sokvatana from Siem Reap, Cambodia. My husband and I have been taking care of abandoned and stray animals for over 20 years now. We spend a lot of time at local Buddhist temples where people often leave their pets behind. With no one else to turn to, we make sure they get food, medical care, and we do our best to find them new, loving homes.
How I help animals
It’s not just me—my whole family is involved. We focus on controlling the animal population through spaying and neutering, and we also provide vaccinations, TVT cancer treatment, parasite control, mange treatment, antibiotics, de-worming, and emergency care. We support animals in treatment with proper nutrition and vitamins to aid recovery.
Each week we use…

50kg
Rice

42kg
Chicken

30kg
Dry dog food

24kg
Fish

20kg
Dry cat food

20pks
Wet cat food
The challenge
Currently we care for over 100 animals spanning various ages and needs. Whilst we strive to shelter as many as possible some require special attention. Despite limited resources and no official funding, we provide daily necessities and rely on sporadic donations from locals and tourists. Balancing feeding and medical expenses is a constant challenge, particularly in a country where the average monthly income is USD $150.
